Wellness Wednesday | Adopting Meditation Into Your Daily Routine
This Wellness Wednesday we’re exploring the importance of focus.

The kind of focus that creates space for you to breathe, slow down, decrease stress, and really check in with yourself. We’re talking about Meditation. This ancient practice grows in popularity each year as we recognize the benefits and growing list of why we should adopt it into our wellness routines. We’ve gathered a few tips to get started with your own practice.
Do it first
Try to make meditation the first thing in your morning routine. That way you can be sure that it actually gets done and not pushed down the to-do list as the day grows busier and busier. A morning meditation can be a perfect way to start the day — you’re rested, focused, and setting the tone for a mindful day. Our favorite routine is to meditate before writing in a gratitude journal, then make the perfect cup of coffee.
Breathe Naturally
While meditation does ask you to focus on the breath and use it as an anchor for the mind, try not to think about the breath in a way that would change your natural rhythm. Allow the breath to unfold naturally, notice the rising and the falling sensation it creates in the body.
Find comfort in the discomfort
No matter your experience with meditation-it’s okay to experience a range of emotions while practicing. Rather than resisting emotions, give them full attention and allow them to come and go.
Take a moment to check in
After each practice, take a moment to recognize how you feel mentally, emotionally and physically. Notice the difference in yourself when comparing the you that sat down pre-meditation and the you that is starting the day more mindful.
