We are deeply distraught by the events in Atlanta last week and the senseless killing of 8 people, six of whom were Asian women, by a white gunman. Hate crimes against Asians and Asian Americans are up 2000% in the past 12 months. It must stop.

At Alfred, we stand against hate. We stand against bigotry, prejudice and violence. We stand in solidarity with the AAPI community and we reach out to offer our support to our AAPI colleagues and members, who are integral to the Alfred family.

As a company, we are committed to helping build a more equal and just world. We know that statements of solidarity against racism and xenophobia alone are not enough, but we believe that our business has a responsibility to speak up and use our influence as social and economic drivers to help affect change. On Asian American Day of Action, we are holding an internal roundtable with our staff to encourage sharing, healing, discussion and opportunities to stand with Asians, united against hate. We also encourage our staff, and all members of our community, to join in peaceful protests or engage in the virtual programming hosted by #StandWithAsians that is happening today to support the AAPI community and #StopAsianHate.
